Labor Pains: Because Being in a Union can be Painful

News Roundup: New union campaign upcoming

It’s a somewhat slower news day than we’ve seen in the past few weeks, but don’t let that fool you. During the upcoming two-week spring recess for Congress, unions plan to make a big push for EFCA, according to Politico. According to one labor official, “We are more determined then ever and the expenditures on ads and massive field operations show that we are putting 100 percent of our efforts behind this bill.” On the good guys’ side, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce did a “fly-in” this week for members to come to Capitol Hill and is running print ads in Colorado, Montana, North Carolina and North Dakota.

Sen. Collins (R-ME), who some speculated might be a swing vote on EFCA, released a statement reasserting her opposition to EFCA. Good to know.
