At a recent rally of the Washington County Democrats, the Grim Reaper showed up to remind people that Jeff Merkley is killing democracy by supporting the deceptively-named Employee Free Choice Act. The Employee Free Choice Act is the big labor unions’ attempt to take away a worker’s right to a private ballot in the workplace.

One Merkley supporter physically accosts the Grim Reaper by trying to take away his sign. Then, another rabid Merkley supporter tries to bully the voter holding the camera and physically assaults him. Mr. Merkley’s supporters start demanding that they produce a ticket for the event while one of his staff is heard in the background to mistakenly say that the Grim Reaper is allied with Gordon Smith’s campaign even though he knows this to not be true.

Blocking the cameraman’s view with everything from heads to hands to papers, one woman is heard to say “We need to call 911.” Another good Democrat use of your tax dollars apparently is to call the police on the Emergency number when someone you disagree with shows up at your event.

It’s not surprising that the party that is trying to take away a worker’s right to a private ballot in the workplace would also try to squelch any opposing viewpoint. It’s just too bad that Jeff Merkley can’t see the hypocrisy in claiming to be for workers while taking away workers’ rights.
