SEIU 1199 in New England is the most powerful health care union in America — unfortunately it often uses that power in questionable fashion. The union looks like it will be trouble for Beth Israel hospital. The head of that hospital recently called out the union for its PR smear tactics that are part of its anti-corporate campaign. From the Boston Globe:

Levy wrote that his colleagues at the hospital are wondering whether SEIU is preparing for a union drive at Beth Israel. “Or is it sending a message to other hospitals in the city that it will attack anybody who has the nerve to speak out against its tactics?”
