Labor Pains: Because Being in a Union can be Painful

Labor Bosses Continue to Stick Up for Lunsford

Kentucky AFL-CIO President Bill Londrigan said the latest TV ads being run by Kentuckians for Employee Freedom “are misleading and are an attempt by an anti-labor front group to divert attention from this terrible economy.”

Funny, because the bill that Lunsford and the union bosses support is actually what’s misleading. The deceptively-named “Employee Free Choice Act” will strip workers of their right to a private ballot vote and replace it with a forced unionized system. This bill passed the U.S. House of Representatives in 2007, but failed in the U.S. Senate.

It’s clear why unions are pressuring members of Congress to pledge support for a forced unionization bill: Union membership has declined drastically over the years and some unions think that if this bill passes they will grow by 1.5 million members a year for the next 10-15 years.

Lunsford has been endorsed by numerous union organizations including Change to Win, AFL-CIO and the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), so it’s no surprise that he is aligning himself with the union bosses to support this corrupt and deceptive idea.

87% of Americans support a federally-supervised, private ballot election to decide unionization, so why would Bruce want to take that away from workers in Kentucky and across America? What if the election in November were made a public vote….would Bruce still be so quick to align himself with labor? We don’t think so.
