There has been a fair amount of talk about SEIU bosses’ position on private equity’s role in the changing economy. That union’s leadership attacks private equity at the same time their members’ pensions rely on the investment vehicle. Now comes a new wrinkle: the AFL-CIO is supporting a major private equity buyout of TXU because its own members’ pensions would be boosted by the deal.

So the question remains: why won’t SEIU’s bosses match their rhetoric and their actions?
