Another story of unhappy UFCW members comes from my beloved Portland, where employees of a food co-op store don’t think they’re getting their money’s worth:
“The only times we’ve ever seen the union is when they come to collect their dues… we’re not getting anything out of [the relationship],” Koch says, adding that the $360 each non-management employee pays in union dues every year could be used to supplement their annual incomes instead.
Hmm … $360 … You can almost hear the Sally Struthers TV voiceover, “For just a dollar a day you can keep this union boss well fed and happy, and free from working for you …”
