Labor Pains: Because Being in a Union can be Painful

Union Boss Wants to Send Eviction to “Capitalists”

Leading up to today’s AFL-CIO-sponsored Democratic presidential debate there have been any number of stories on Big Labor’s political agenda. Mostly the stories use terms like “working people” or “progressive.” Whatever. At least one union boss delivered the truth in a new AP story. William Burrus, head of the postal workers union, I’m a believer and my union is a believer that we’ve got to wrest control from the capitalists from the Republicans, from their friends in the White House as well the Congress.” Emphasis is mine, just in case there was any misunderstanding.

No wonder Americans are tired of labor leaders’ shtick — they’re still fighting a war based on class and still think they can crush capital. Maybe someone ought to send the postal workers’ president a message: this is a new economy, and most Americans can’t afford to run their businesses as “efficiently” as the post office.
