We came across an interesting tidbit today. It seems that on Tuesday’s date in 1997, “Union members from the Beloit area are picketing the new Beloit Wal-Mart store, which doesn’t have union employees.” My, how things haven’t changed! It’s a good reminder that union bosses will keep plugging away when they are faced with the threat of competition and the potential for new members’ dollars. It’s also a good reminder that when you see a story of a union attacking a company for some alleged misdeed, chances are it’s just another chapter in the playbook of anti-corporate campaign tactics.
