Labor Pains: Because Being in a Union can be Painful

Putting the Union Stamp on Wal-Mart

Unions are tripping over themselves to “improve” Wal-Mart right into a unionized workforce (with a windfall of dues as the happy side effect for labor leaders). But I came across an interesting factoid today: After Wal-Mart, what is the largest employer in the U.S.? It’s the Postal Service — which is unionized right up to its eyeballs and sees unfair labor practice charges filed against it about as often as someone says “the check is in the mail.”

Not to draw too tight a connection, but a general rule might be that if you want to turn a cost-cutting economic powerhouse into an organization that is as “efficient” and “friendly” as the post office, start mailing out those union authorization cards.
