The former secretary for a labor union in northeast Alabama is headed to federal prison for embezzlement. Last October, 49-year-old Sharon Ann Burt of Fort Payne pleaded guilty to stealing more than $72,000 in union funds and mail fraud. At a sentencing hearing yesterday (Tuesday), a federal judge ordered Burt to serve one year, plus one day behind bars.
