The Associated Press is reporting on recently released data showing unions actually won nearly two-thirds of secret ballot organizing elections in 2008, prompting many to wonder why exactly Congress needs to even pass card check.

According to figures from the National Labor Relations Board, unions won 63 percent of secret ballot elections. This is a four percent increase from the previous year and the highest win rate since the mid 1950s! With so much success, why is labor so adamant on passing legislation that will effectively eliminate a process that is actually working?

It’s simple. EFCA is a power grab by unions. And the other provisions in EFCA, such as binding arbitration and increased penalties, are as economically consequential as the effective elimination of the secret ballot for workers.
