“The Governor has made it known that she doesn’t want to speak to you right now…”

Friday, October 10th, 2008

After a Business and Industry Association debate at St. Anselm’s College in Manchester, the Granite Staters for Employee Freedom tried to get a straight answer from Jeanne Shaheen on whether she supports a worker’s right to a private ballot in the workplace.  Take a look at 1:22 in the video below – before the cameraman can get the question out, a police officer accosts him and informs him that Jeanne Shaheen doesn’t want to talk.  Is it now policy to use the police as a barrier between politicians and uncomfortable questions?

Jeanne Shaheen Continues to Dodge the Question

Friday, October 10th, 2008

At a Chamber of Commerce forum in Portsmouth, NH, Jeanne Shaheen had yet another opportunity to defend her support of the Employee Free Choice Act, and again she she chose to attack the questioner rather than answer the question.

Carol Shea-Porter’s Labor Friends get Fiesty

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Outside of a Carol Shea-Porter event in Manchester, 2 of the Granite Staters for Employee Freedom asked some gentlemen from the NALC and AFL-CIO a few questions about the EFCA, and things went south pretty quickly.

The representative from the NALC, even if unintentionally, makes an interesting point – it was around 90 years ago that the NLRB got rid of card check voting.  He also informs us that 100 years ago, guys like us would have been thrown in a river.  Is there a causal connection between card check voting and throwing people in rivers?  Only time will tell – but it’s pretty clear that the NALC and AFL-CIO want to get back to the good old days.

Senator Sununu Opposes EFCA

Monday, September 8th, 2008

In stark contrast to his democratic opponent, New Hampshire’s Senator Sununu sees EFCA for what it is: an attempt by unions with sagging membership to intimidate, harass, and coerce employees into joining a union.  Senator Sununu has the clarity to see the issue at its core stating:

The so-called “Employee Free Choice Act” is anything but. By reversing the decades-long practice of secret ballots at the workplace, its enactment would force workers to stand up and declare their vote in front of both union bosses and employers — subjecting them to intimidation and coercion by both. Far from granting free choice, the legislation promises to deny it at the workplace and to potentially erode the foundations of free elections everywhere else.

It’s no secret why big labor interests are pushing the bill. Over the last few decades, union membership in America has plunged from 34 percent of the workforce to 12 percent today. Union bosses are rightly worried about their political future, and they are asking the Democrats in Congress to do their dirty work.

In contrast to Jeanne Shaheen’s repeated dodging regarding her support for EFCA, Senator Sununu has chosen to defend American workers’ right to the private ballot. Read the entire editorial here.

Jeanne Shaheen Refuses to Defend her support for EFCA on Labor Day

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Jeanne Shaheen refuses to explain her support for the Employee Free Choice Act even on her way into the AFL-CIO breakfast and at a parade surrounded by teamsters.

If Jeanne Shaheen can’t defend her support of EFCA in front of union members it’s no wonder she has trouble justifying it in front of New Hampshire voters.

Manchester Union Leader Takes Notice of Card Check Intimidation on Labor Day

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

In Monday’s Manchester Union Leader, the editorial page has taken note of the Employee Free Choice Act, which they call an “Orwellian-named proposal [that] would actually remove free choice from the unionization decision.“  The writer cuts to the heart of the issue when he writes:

The act would allow shops to unionize by “card check.” That is, it would allow organizers to form unions by collecting signatures of employees face-to-face. Gone would be the protection of secrecy. Employees’ choices would suddenly be public, not private, and therefore subject to retaliation and intimidation.

This is anti-democratic and un-American. And yet, if Democrats gain stronger majorities in Congress, it might become law very soon. The party is pushing this bill at the behest of unions that have funneled money and votes to Democrats precisely for the purpose of getting this kind of anti-employee legislation passed.

As more people hear the truth about the Employee Free Choice Act, editorials like this will probably become much more common.  The supporters of the EFCA hold an untenable position, and now that they are being challenged on it they have no response.

Oh the Irony

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Jeanne Shaheen’s campaign has accused her opponent of avoiding the issues. How ironic we have asked her several times about her support for the Employee Free Choice Act and the elimination of private ballots for workers only to have her dodge and evade our questions.  Check out her responses here, here, and here.

So before the Shaheen camp accuses others of dodging questions maybe she should answer this one: Don’t workers deserve a private ballot, Governor?

Carol Shea-Porter hates questions & constituents who have them.

Watch this video and you will see that Carol Shea-Porter simply does not like answering questions and would prefer to avoid any contact with constituents– weird, I know, seeing as she is a public official. Instead of taking the time to explain her opinion on issues she patronizes constituents to the point of disbelief.

All we wanted to know was if she believed the money she had accepted from union PACs ($200,000.00) had clouded her judgment on the Employee Free Choice Act. She will not give a response to any question that contains the words Employee Free Choice Act. I find it hard to believe that she has the best interests of New Hampshire’s workers in mind when she has received so much money from union bosses. Shea-Porter needs to take a step back and look at the whole picture and see what is going to happen in the long run. Maybe she should check out www.EmployeeFreedom.org and see what taking away a secret ballot will really do to the workers of our country.
