Labor Pains: Because Being in a Union can be Painful

Unabashed Political Payback for Union Bosses

We’ve hit a stage where no one even bothers to hide Big Labor’s political power grabs. Take this from Oregon, where the Statesman Journal reports:

And Gov. Ted Kulongoski’s administration aims to oblige unions on their biggest demand: state-paid health insurance premiums.

“Fully paid health care is their No. 1 priority, which is why the governor has said we will fulfill that at this time, at least for the first year,” said Sue Wilson, state human resources director.

Oh, it’s their top priority, “which is why the governor has said we will fullfill that at this time …” At least so we understand the ground rules. Just remember: ending secret ballot elections and passing the horrifyingly misnamed “Employee Free Choice Act” is the labor movement’s top national political priority … which is why the next president, fresh off a labor-funded victory, may well sign on the dotted line.
